An icon in his native New Zealand’s underground music scene, Graeme Jefferies delivers
his first album in four years, and his first to be released in America in nearly a
decade. To that end, he revives The Cakekitchen on Trouble Again In This Town, a
collection that’s easily equal to past glories.

Out of print for well over two decades but spoken about in some indie circles in
reverential tones, ‘Messages For The Cakekitchen’ was the 1988 album from New Zealand
indie icon Graeme Jefferies. Presaging the collages of strange, found sound samples
that defined his Nineties project The Cakekitchen, it now gets a re-issue on vinyl
via Ally.
